Storytelling at the Threshold of Wonder and Ruin

Thorncrown Studios tells stories for a world on the edge.

We are drawn to what hides in plain sight, the forgotten, the forbidden, and the Eternal. Our work spans the realms of the seen and unseen, blending ancient themes with present urgency. Whether through moving images or written words, we seek to awaken something enduring.

Our productions combine traditional storytelling craft with modern media, bringing depth, atmosphere, and conviction to every project. From supernatural thrillers to investigations of the unexplained and stories of quiet heroism, we explore the fractures where deeper realities break through.

Featured works include Sanctum of Shadows, a spiritual thriller series; Patterns of Supernatural Phenomena, a long-running documentary show on real-world mysteries; and The Way of the Servant Warrior, exploring spiritual conflict and transformation.

Thorncrown Books publishes both fiction and non-fiction rooted in our themes, spiritual tension, moral conflict, and the search for meaning in an unraveling age.

Alongside these, the Thorncrown website features a growing library of essays, commentary, cultural reflection, and personal insight.

Thorncrown Studios is led by a team of writers, filmmakers, and thinkers committed to stories that matter crafted for those still searching, still watching, and still believing that truth is not a relic, but a fire.

Who We Are

Coleman Luck

Coleman Luck is a Hollywood writer/executive producer known for such television series as The Equalizer that starred Edward Woodward and Gabriel’s Fire that starred James Earl Jones. A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Coleman is a Life Member of the Writers Guild of America, West. He is also a mentalist and a past member of the Academy of Magical Arts at The Magic Castle in Hollywood.

Coleman lives in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of central California with his wife, Carel Gage Luck, a fine artist. They have three adult children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Coleman is a decorated combat veteran. In 1968, as an Army infantry First Lieutenant, he led a rifle platoon with the Mobile Riverine Force in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. His personal awards and decorations include two Bronze Stars, one for valor and one for service, three Army Commendation medals, all for valor, the Air Medal and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Carel Gage Luck

Carel was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on Barksdale Air Force Base. When she was five years old she was fostered by a family in Wheaton, Il. It was in this home – the home of Walter and Pearl Super where she grew up.

After graduating from Wheaton Academy near Wheaton, Illinois, she attended Moody
Bible Institute in Chicago. In 1966 she married Coleman Luck, who became a young
Army officer who was sent to Vietnam. She took a degree in fine arts with an emphasis in painting, studying under internationally known artist, Marvin Hardin. Carel’s paintings have been shown in many art exhibits and galleries.

In 1977, Carel, Coleman and their three children moved to California where Coleman had
been accepted in the graduate writing program at USC. For several years, Coleman was a stay-at-home dad, writing screenplays and taking care of the kids while Carel managed a
center for the federal Meals-On-Wheels program in the San Fernando Valley. During this time, she received a commendation from the Mayor and the City of Los Angeles for her
work. When Coleman began selling screenplays, Carel took over management of their new company.

As Coleman became a successful screenwriter and later a television writer/executive
producer, it gave the couple many opportunities to minister to the needs of people in the
entertainment community of Hollywood. Carel and Coleman led a Bible study in Beverly
Hills for a number of years. In addition, Carel has led many women’s seminars and
studies, as well as hosting many special events in her home.

In 1994, Coleman began executive producing a primetime science fiction series called
“The M.A.N.T.I.S.” at Universal Television for the Fox Network. He suggested that
Carel join him as a partner in writing an episodic script for that series. The experiment
went well. Besides co-writing episodes for “The M.A.N.T.I.S.” for MCA/Universal, “The
Burning Zone” for UPN and the “Left Behind” series for PAX TV, Carel has co-written
four movies for independent companies.

Carel and Coleman have been married 59 years. They live in the Sierra Nevada
Mountains near Yosemite National Park. They have three adult children, five
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Coleman Luck III

Coleman Luck III is a Hollywood writer/producer who has worked on six different network shows and one independent feature. He is from Los Angeles and currently lives with his parents in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Central California.

  1. Coleman, I’m so grateful to you for sharing your insights on Nitzsche’s “Over Man” as the concept relates to Donald Trump. I am the pastor of a church in the Milwaukee metro area. While I do not make political endorsements from the pulpit (which I consider highly inappropriate), I do my best to point people toward wisdom and godliness. Consequently, I have shared your article with a number of people, and I have posted it to my personal (not the church’s) Facebook page. Since then, I have received several encouraging responses from people who, a) read the entire article, b) did so with an open mind, and c) responded appropriately – with concern for our nation and for the direction of the American church. Sadly, I have also received several discouraging responses, from people who, a) seem to have read only enough of the article to perceive that its message raises concerns about Trump, b) became offended at the notion, and c) responded with either a salvo of rancorous language or with an article of their own. Both the rancor and the articles have generally showcased the very attitudes which your “Over Man” article called out so eloquently.

I have also heard from numerous people (as I have no doubt you have) with two responses in particular: 1) “You could insert Hillary’s name or Obama’s name in that article in every place where Trump is named.” And, 2) “Well, you have to vote for one of the two or you’ll fail in your duty as an American.” John Sununu recently said, “America is now doomed to an election cycle in which each nominee’s greatest asset is the shortcomings of the other.” As for me, I have taken to calling Election Day, 2016, “American Sophie’s Choice Day.” My call to the church has been and continues to be: follow Christ and keep your conscience clean. A vote for either candidate (R) or candidate (D) would leave me with a polluted conscience and I will make no such choice.

I very much appreciate your writings and, moreover, your insights. I will continue to follow you hereafter and I hope to be in touch with you from time to time. May God keep you in His will.

    • Thank you, Pastor. My personal belief is that these are the days of winnowing in the American church. It will get very dark, but the King is coming. Blessings on you, your family, and your ministry.

  2. I read a LOT of articles about Trump, and listen to a lot of conservative pundits, but I have never read anything as thought provoking and as accurate as this excellently written article! I am a Christ follower, and have many close Christian friends who think I’ve lost my mind for not “jumping on the Trump train”! And of course, in their minds, I must be supporting Hillary since I cannot bring myself to vote for Trump! When I attempt to imagine how I would feel about myself on the morning after election day, all I can think about is how dirty and degraded I would feel, almost like after a sordid one night stand with a stranger. He is so dangerous for this country, and I have really struggled with this decision, but your article has completely made it easy for me to move on with my life, and even though it will be my first missed election as a voting adult, I will stay home and have a nice quiet dinner with my hubby instead!
